The Environmental Testing Lab. of Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC) was established in 1996 with the intention of providing the testing services for reliability, safety, and durability under different environmental conditions for automotive industries. Starting in 2010, it has gradually built the capabilities for validating EV battery performance and for safety testing battery pack charge/discharge devices, thermal chambers, vibration testing machines, and mechanical shock test equipment. Its major business is to take on the battery inspection for Taiwan’s EV industry, since the Testing Lab. received authentication from TAF, IDIADA, Chrysler, AMECA, NSF, Ministry of Transportation and Bureau of Standards in Taiwan for performing battery test items regulated by ISO/SAE/IEC standards. The Lab. can also provide testing of power batteries for energy storage projects, and release certification reports.
In order to strengthen the development and contribution of the power storage battery industry, Chroma has assisted ARTC Lab. to complete testing on a 17030 Regenerative Battery Pack Test System (900V/500A/250kW) and the integration of a thermal chamber in August, 2014 that are compliant with the ISO12405-2 standards for testing lithium battery performance. During the battery charge and discharge process, it monitors not only the thermal chamber’s parameters to simulate the performance and reliability of large battery pack under different ambient temperatures, but also issues protection warnings and can stop testing automatically. The composite platform of battery charge/discharge tester and thermal chamber has become one of the basic verification systems for testing lithium batteries. Currently Chroma ATE Inc. is able to provide regenerative battery pack test systems and integration services or consultations when combined with other associate testing systems. We have helped several local EV manufacturers validate the battery packs and get satisfactory results. Feel free to contact ARTC to arrange a laboratory visit if you are interested in a solution.
With 30 years experience in test and measurement instrumentation, Chroma is capable of creating innovative testing solutions for power and energy storage. The testing solutions available include regenerative battery pack test systems for battery cores, modules and packs, BMS testing systems, battery pack production line integrated EOL tests, battery simulators and super capacitor tests. These are adopted by many EV, battery manufacturers and third-party testing laboratories both domestic and abroad.
